Objective
This document defines the deployment phase. This is to be carried out after the system has been tested and
approved by the relevant parties as ready for implementation in the production environment. This phase will run
until the system is, according to the specifications, operational in the production environment.
Deployment Timeline
<List here estimations of the time taken to complete the key tasks. Specific dates are not defined at this stage.
This is a broad overview of the timing required for Hardware installation, Software installation and Training.>
Installation Steps
<Define here an overview of the steps required to implement the new system in the end-user environment.>
Identification of resources
<Define here the key resources required to carry out the final implementation in the production environment. >
The following are resources required to deploy the system:
Hardware
< Detail the hardware required to implement the system in the production environment. Include any
information on changes required in the existing environment.>
Hardware required:
-
- Workstations
- Servers
- Network connectivity
- Printers
- Etc.
Personnel Roles and Responsibilities
<Define the key resources needed to implement the installation with a general overview of the expected time
required to implement each of the key activities. >
Software
<This section covers any software resources required for deploying the package.>
Reference Material
<Provide any reference materials critical to the deployment.>
Data Migration
< Define here a data migration process if it is needed.>
The Data Migration is <an automated/a manual> conversion of the data. It involves the following processes:
-
- Pre-installation:
- <Preparation of new data from existing data.>
- <Testing the new data against the existing data set.>
- Post installation:
- <Backup of existing data.>
- <Uploading of the migration data.>
- <Purging the old data.>
Installation and Configuration
<Define here the installation and configuration of the hardware, software as well as other systems that may be
required to support the new software.>
The following are the key areas requiring installation and configuration:
Hardware Installation
<Define the installation of any servers, workstations etc. to be installed for the final implementation.>
Software Installation
<Define the software installations required for the above hardware.>
Training Plan
<This section can provide a reference to the training plan as well as timing expected to implement this.>
Post Implementation Review
This review covers the steps defined in the previous documentation and states what has been completed. This
involves the following details:
Checklist
<Provide a reference or details of a checklist covering the processes that are complete as well as any issues
that have arisen.>
Update Documentation
<Define any updates and changes made to the process defined in the original documentation.>
Final Review
<Define any recommendations to be passed back post the implementation including some post deployment
action plan.>
